How long has Bobs Online Hosting been in business?
Bobs
Online Hosting was formed in 2006 as an LLC partnership
between NWcascades.com and The Northern Light.
NWcasacdes.com has been providing reliable and affordable
web hosting since 1997 and brings years of IT experience
to Bobs Online Hosting. Bobs Online Hosting owns and operates
its own servers at the new Northern Light Building
in Blaine, WA. Our IT team monitors all servers, backup juteboxes
and data communications equipment 24 hours a day, 7 days a
week, 365 days a year.
Why don't I just go with the cheapest hosting?
From time to time you will come across web hosting deals that are almost too
good to be true. This
does not necessarily mean that you will receive 'cheap' service, but
it pays to be very careful.
Here are some things to look at when going with cheap
hosting:
- Unlimited
bandwidth or space. This is NOT possible.
- The
quality of bandwidth and the overall performance. Some
hosts
scrimp on these to give you cheaper prices resulting
in sluggish loading and at times unresponsive web pages.
- How
many servers do they have? Are they putting you on a
server that is overloaded?
- Do
they own & operate their own servers, or are they reselling
another firms services?
- What
about tech support? Their level of technical support
may not be up to your expectations.
Does
Bob's Online Hosting offer
dial-up Internet access?
No,
you will need local Internet access in order to access your
web site and retrieve e-mail from your account.
What
type of web sites does Bob's Online Hosting host?
Bob's
Online Hosting
hosts commercial and non-commercial web sites. However, we
do NOT host adult oriented or sites with illegal content.
How
do I place an order?
You can place an order by calling (360) 332-1777. You can also email
sales@bobsonlinehosting.com.
What
payment terms are available?
We accept Visa, and Master Card. All payments are set up on an quarterly basis.
How
long does it take to set up a new account with Bobs Online
Hosting?
Orders
for domain name accounts will be configured within 24 hours,
and most times will be done the same day. Once
an account is set up an activation notice will be sent you
via email. You can immediately begin uploading
files to your new web site.
How
long does it take before my domain name is active?
Once
your domain name is registered it will be added to the primary
DNS servers around the globe. These servers are updated every
12 hours. It may take as long as 72 hours for the change to
be propagated by some ISP's. On an average, sites are available
within 24 hours provided that the DNS servers associated with
the domain have been set correctly.
Will
I have unlimited access to update my pages?
Yes. You have unlimited access via FTP 24-hours a day. This way you have full
control to create and maintain your web pages on your own computer and upload
files to your web site at your leisure.
Can
I upgrade my hosting plan at a later stage?
Yes. All accounts can be upgraded. Upgrades will happen
the same business day.
Does
Bob’s Online Hosting Web support Microsoft FrontPage
and FrontPage server extensions?
No, Bob’s Online Hosting does not support these extensions.
Can I use Active Server Pages (ASP) on my site?
No.
We only use Unix servers. ASP requires Windows servers which
we do not support at this time.
Can I use Java Servlet Pages (JSP) on my site?
Yes,
we support Java Server Pages (JSP) and Java Server Faces (JSF)
on both Tomcat™ and JBoss™ servers.
I already have a domain name. How do I point it to my new
account?
In
order to point your domain at Bob's Online Hosting servers,
first, contact the company who
sold
you the domain name and ask them to modify the nameservers
to reflect the following information:
Domain servers in listed order:
xxxNS1.NWCASCADES.COM
xxxNS2.NWCASCADES.COM
Can
I access my domain address with or without the "www"?
Yes,
you will be able to access the domain address with or without
the "www" in front of
the domain name. Example: "http://www.your-name.com" or
"http://your-name.com"
will be acceptable, whichever you prefer. The host name can
be changed from "www" to something else if desired. Please
inform Tech Support if you wish to do so.
Does
Bob’s Online Hosting offer technical
support to customers?
Yes! We are always here to help you. We encourage
our customers to submit a support
email to support@bobslonlinehosting.com with
questions or concerns about your web site hosting or co-location services.
Do
you have a reseller plan?
At
this time we do not. Bobs Online Hosting accounts are for single
users only.
Do
you offer web design?
Yes, we have an experienced team of advertising design professionals that are
well versed in both internet development and traditional advertising. For information

What
databases are supported?
Bobs Online Hosting supports MySQL v5.0.x and PostgreSQL v8.1.x databases. Please

What
applications are supported?
We support both Tomcat™ and JBoss™ Java™ application servers. Please contact

What types of servers does Bob's Online Hosting support?
We
have a wide variety of servers available. From single processor
Intel/AMD/Apple servers to multi-processor Intel servers. Sun Microsystems Mid-Range systems are also supported.
